Subject: the crazy knitter

Comment: I learned to knit when I was 10, now I am 13 and going strong. I have made cupcakes, birthday cakes, peaches, sandwiches, flowers, mugs, flower pots, scarves, jugs, monsters, bunnies, pigs, hats, fake casts, bookmarks, and soooooo many more things, and I am only in 7th grade. If you think you can't learn to knit, Your wrong.

stay knitting,

Comment: I am 15 and I have been knitting for almost a year now. My first project was a rectangular shawl. I was so proud when I finished it (after almost two months, nevertheless!), and now I knit every single day. I love what I do, and I love seeing my mom's face light up when I present her with yet another pair of handknit socks. :) I guess what I'm trying to say is, don't be afraid to try new things. We are knitters, and we are proud of what we do.

Comment: Years ago, at about age 9 I asked my mother to teach me to knit. Well, that didn't last long. Now, much later, I decided to get into it- obviously it takes me a while to make up my mind. Having started about two months ago, I now have almost three and a half scarfs completed. Sorry I didn't get back sooner. I'm now 76 and enjoying it.

Subject: Learning to knit

Comment: In 1943, when I was about 11 years old, The girl, aged 16, next door and confined to a wheel chair would sit on the other side of a chain link fence and knit and watch my brothers and I play in the front yard. She asked me if I wanted to learn to knit, and I jumped at the chance. She taught me to knit. My first project, was a pair of argyile socks. One ended up about 2 inches longer in the foot than the other. I gave them to my father, and he always wore them. (he may have changed to something more comfortable when he got out the door, but he always wore them. Because of the attitude of my father and the patience of this sweet girl, I learned to knit. I have been happily knitting ever since.

Comment: Hey,

I am 13, and yes, I am a knitting fanatic! I love the way yarn looks as you knit it, and the different color combos you can make just using your imagination. I do think I was destined to knit because about a year ago, I was looking at knitting patterns for knitting food and I was like, hey, I'll make my own pattern without dp needles! So I sat down and knitted a carrot, complete with green leaves and all!! So it just goes to show, beleive in your self annd what you can knit!!!!!

Comment: I've recently started teaching knitting to 3-5 grade students at my school. The number of students interested in learning to knit is amazing. This site has been a great place to find patterns since several students want to make toys for their own pets or a local shelter. Thank you so much

Comment: In these bad times, the population at the food pantrys or food banks is up considerably. Since I work everyday, it is hard to volunteer my time but I knit a lot in the evenings, I made several pairs of children's mittens, hats, slipper socks and neck scarves of all types. I take them to the food pantrys, lay them out on a table and tell those who are in need of warm clothing , please take something to help keep you and your family warm. These people are delighted to get some type of warm clothing and I am delighted to be able to use up a lot of scrap yarn making these items. It takes little time to whip up a pair of mittens or slipper socks or even a scarf. I feel I have contributed even though I am unable to work at the food banks or pantrys.

Comment: I am 23 and have recently taught myself to knit (at first it was crochet, but I was completely hopeless). Knitting is really fun and I'm not too bad at it.

It's so relaxing!

Subject: Lovely extras

Comment: I've been knitting blanket squares as they're quick to do. Your website is brilliant as it offers so many more squares and other pattern to encourage me to do more. I aim to make a blanket large enough to fit across my double bed to make it cheerful to a dull room.

Comment: My Grandmother learned me to knit at the age of 7, by 9 I was knitting my own dolls clothes ! having not knitted for years (Im now 36) I thought I would take it up again, and found this page with the baby born cardigan pattern, which I knitted (with just a few glitches) for my 20 month old daughters baby born doll, having only just began knitting a couple of weeks ago I'm back in full swing and full speed. The easy patterns, fantastic clear instructions, and small projects like this cardigan are great for re-gaining the knitting confidence again. I can't praise this site enough. By the way- the wee caridgan is beautiful and fits a dream!

Subject: Re-Learning

Comment: I learned to knit as a girl, my mother taught me. As a teen I had completed different things like scarves, afghans, potholders, and even a sweater. Then life became busy with college, marriage, kids etc etc and I didnt knit for close to 18 years. Just recently I decided to pick up the hobby again. Took some frustrating evenings of trial and error and research on the net. I am now totally addicted and have printed a bunch of patterns to work on....cant wait!
